Feather Flock Wedding Productions

Behind the scenes:

This brief required the design and illustration of a logo as well as business cards for a wedding production company, called FeatherFlock Productions. Along with this instruction the client requested that the logo emit the theme of a snowflake combined with that of feathers, along with a classic, sophisticated but natural hand drawn feel.

>Myopia:

So, I would say; climb into the river that flows from your own navel and wash their false realities,- their consent, off. Drink your own thoughts. Swim your own course. Allow your reflection to be just what it is. Drip with unwavering honesty. Pour diverse experiences all over yourself. Float in your authenticity, your Self.

You do not have to participate in what they approve.

Yes, feeling different from them would be to your benefit. Being peculiar to them would imply your arrival.

The Fresh Menu

Behind the scenes:

This brief required the illustration, design and copy writing of a brand new menu for Railways Cafe. This design was left completely up to my conceptualisation. I decided to design the menu according to a newspaper layout and look, as this is the type of vibe that Railways Cafe reinforces. Within the menu, I illustrated depictions of the food described, for example each pizza was visually taken apart with every ingredient listed for that pizza illustrated separately. I included articles about happenings at the restaurant, people that work there etc, to further the feel of reading an actual newspaper, as well as a map of the entire grounds of Railways.

Wise One

Behind the scenes:

This brief required the illustration and design of a character to be used on further health product labeling. The projects asked for the design to be flat, vector, a made up creature was to be created with a soft but serious feel. The organisation is one representative of healing, growth, natural remedy, holistic healing and kindness.

>Myopia:

Disillusionment is not easy. Not at all. It entails a war inside of you, yourself vs yourself. The existing king within you will never just give up his reign to the new king trying to become you. No, there will be a war. Your current ruler will summon his warriors; outdated habits and ideas and ways of thinking, to rise in revolt and fight for the kingdom that is you. And the invading ruler will bring his army; authenticity and expansion and healing and progress, to battle and overthrow this establishment that is you.

Allow this… Go to war and when it is done welcome the new king inside of you to take his place on the throne. For you will walk into the war as one version of yourself, ruled by the old king reaching for the past, and you will come out of it as another, in allegiance with the new king beckoning the future.

Black Buhdda

Behind the scenes:

This brief required the illustration and design of a logo for a up and coming vegan restaurant called Black Buhdda. I was given the instruction to make use of the colours purple and gold, as well as the motif of a lotus; symbolic of purity of the body.

Railways Map

Behind the scenes:

This brief required the illustration and design of a complete map of the layout of Railways Cafe, The I Makers Lab and I Make Africa, all situated on the same property, working together and independently. The solution of the project was left in my hands, so I aimed to represent the different parts to be found at Railways by drawing indicative icons that are illustrative of the organisation, as well as the use of classic colours known to Railways.

>Myopia:

There is no such thing as a ‘wrong turn’ on the path to yourself. Each turn is warranted to grant you something that will only bring you closer to where you are heading. A hint, a direction, an encouragement to indicate the next turn to be made. It is divinely structured, and even though some happenings and choices made on this journey may present themselves as the polarity of ‘bad,’ the greater scheme of things is, as stated, greater, and in this greater scheme of things, all is as it should be, make ‘all’ good.

Marimba

Behind the scenes:

This brief required the illustration and design of business cards for Mr. Marimba, an informal trader made formal, who creates his own marimbas and teaches young and old how to play them. This design was left completely up to my discern, and I aimed to not only depict the marimbas Mr. marimba masters so well, but also Mr. Marimba himself, his vibe and feel, by use of line and colour.

>Myopia:

Allow the rest that the `dark place` offers you. This temporary state of not achieving, failed attempts, miserable confusion and lack of progress is not a waste of time. It is teaching you something, something pivotal that you will need to navigate the `happy place` of fast pace and fluid success, when it arrives again. But more over, it is offering you some time to JUST TAKE A BREATH. So when it is `dark place` season, do not work even harder to counter that shit. Allow it, remind yourself that you are learning and contently lay in the rest.

Wedding Invitation

Behind the scenes:

This brief required the design and illustration of a wedding invitation. The couple asked for the representation of an eagle as this has sentimental value to the one partner, as well as the presence of lilies, as this carries meaning to the other partner. The colours used are the colours that will make up the palet of the wedding.

>Myopia:

Hashtag if you just let now happen, whatever now is, with full acceptance and participation, you won’t have to think the after now through as much. There will be next to nothing over analysing and over thinking and thought wrestling and trying to understand the after now. Now would’ve completely prepared you for after now, you will sit in absolute awareness and revelation of your after now. And if you make this your cycle, all your now’s and after now’s will be filled with acceptance, followed by understanding, without TRYING to get to such a state. You will BE such a state… You will accept and experience your current now without judgement or attempted control, which will create space for you as the observer to sit in awe of the awareness of the divinity and synchronicity of your previous now, knowing that your after now will offer you the same actualisation, and in turn become your now.

IMakeAfrica

Behind the scenes:

This brief required the illustration and design of a logo for a company that designs and 3D prints aeroponic systems called IMakeAfrica. They aim to make our country a better, more self sustaining home. I was left to conceptualise and execute this project independent of themes, guidelines or restrictions.

>Myopia:

Hashtag nothing that happens in your life is because you are doing something right, or doing something wrong. The moving parts of your life are so much more than prizes to be won or debts to paid. These happenings that have brought you to this place, here and now, are divine, esotericly perfect, carefully and rigidly selected. They are all happening FOR you, not to you. Considering this, one should replace “I deserve this” with “I allow this” and let the pressure and judgement of the former roll off of your back. You, as the sum, are exactly as you should be right now, and so are the all parts that have contributed to this “you,” thus far. These parts are not a game to win or lose, they are miracles.

Mongobo

Behind the scenes:

This project asked for the design and illustration of a label for a home made chilli sauce. The product design, concept, bottling and even name was left to my own accord. ‘Mongobo’ is the zulu word for ‘sauce,’ zulu being the heritage of Paulina (the lady who makes the sauce). ‘I Makers Lab’ is the orginisation who supports Paulina in her cooking endevours, hence the ‘I Make’ in the name. The hands stirring the sauce and holding the chillie in the label illustration are Paulina’s hands, and the glass bottles chosen to hold the sauce are bottles that are easy to come by for Paulina via recycling iniatives.
